Double-Sided Tape
Double-sided tape is an adhesive tape supplied in roll form, featuring a substrate uniformly coated on both sides with pressure-sensitive adhesive and covered by a release liner (paper or film). Its basic structure consists of: a release protective layer + adhesive layer + substrate (or a substrate-free pure adhesive layer) + adhesive layer + release protective layer. During application, the release liner is peeled away to enable bonding on both sides, serving as an effective alternative to screws, rivets, and liquid adhesives, while ensuring efficient and clean installation.
Main Types and Core Parameters
- Cotton Paper Double-sided Tape (General Purpose): Offers cost-effectiveness with long-term temperature resistance of 70°C. Suitable for carton sealing, labeling, and office applications. Solvent-based adhesives provide firmer holding power than water-based adhesives.
- PET Film Double-sided Tape: Available in transparent or matte finishes. Features high shear strength and a temperature resistance range of 100–125°C. Used for electronic nameplates, LCD assemblies, mobile phone components, and die-cutting applications.
- Non-woven/Fiber Double-sided Tape: Highly flexible, allowing for effective bonding to slightly curved surfaces. Temperature resistant up to 80°C. Suitable for automotive interiors and home appliance assembly.
- Substrate-free Double-sided Tape (Pure Adhesive Film): Ultra-thin profile (0.02–0.1mm) with a temperature resistance range of 120–145°C. Suitable for precision electronics, narrow-bezel bonding, and waterproof sealing applications.
- Foam Double-sided Tape (PE/EVA/Acrylic): Provides cushioning, shock absorption, and gap-filling capabilities. Acrylic foam variants offer enhanced weather resistance, making them suitable for outdoor signage, automotive bodywork, and architectural curtain walls.
- Conductive/Thermally Conductive Double-sided Tape: Functional specialty tapes. Conductive versions are used for EMI shielding, while thermally conductive versions are used in heat dissipation modules.
